2025-26 School Year Enrollment Opens July 1
Kindergarten through 8th grades
Taught By Señora Emily West
In this class, students will spend 15 weeks learning basic phrases, sounds, and conversational expressions in Spanish, and then 15 weeks learning similar concepts in French. We will be mainly focusing on speaking and listening in the target languages. Each week we will work on a task that a student might have to do if they were traveling to a Spanish or French speaking country. We will practice such things as going to the supermarket, asking for directions, finding public transportation, ordering in a restaurant, commenting on the weather, getting to know people, and many similar things! We will do this through interactive and fun conversation practice and the use of dialogues and common expressions lists. We will practice proper pronunciation as we execute real world tasks. Along the way, we will also learn other simple things like colors, numbers, days of the week, and months. We will use multiple modalities including music, video, and written dialogues to help students learn.
As part of the class, the students will have a membership to Mango Languages with assigned lessons each week to practice with the skills we are learning in class. The membership allows up to 5 family members to practice on multiple languages!
